Next, travel to the slideshare notes on North Africa.
Read through the notes and answer ALL of the questions on the last slide. You will complete a second research paper on North Africa, which will be due on Wednesday. Also, you will have a political map test on Monday and a physical map test on Wednesday.

I think that...
I'm not really sure what we have to answer, but i'll just say what i think of West Africa. Studying West Africa was pretty interesting to learn about, and certainly more interesting than learning from the book. I think that learning West Africa like we did made it more interesting. I think this because learning from internet or from you, and talking about it made it more interesting than learning from a book, and just reading. But to tell you the truth, it wasn't the most interesting thing to learn, but still better than book. West Africa has a pretty interesting culture to learn about but i think that if i had gone on the trip, then learning West Africa would have been better.

Well, Blood Diamond is pretty intense im my opinion. Ive watched part of ROOTS in the past, which demmonstrated the violence that took place between Africans and Americans. However, it seemed very different when you see a movie when its just African people fighting each other.I think that it opens the eyes of many people, who thought of diamonds as nice looking object, however its cost many people there lives. I also think that this film shows you who the people you think are good, are actually terrible.This is mainly explained by showing that the 3rd world countries were funding the war by purchasing the diamonds, but later said that something should be done about this ( Obviously hypocrites).

I really liked the movie that we watched, Blood Diamond, even though we didn’t finish it.
It's a really good movie, intense, violent and sad. But it is reality, it does happened in Africa, and who knows when it's going to stop.
They fight with each other just because of diamonds.
They have fun killing people, destroying so many families.
I found this very disturbing that they even make kids kill people.
Okok, we're supposed to write something about the movie... I didn't think we were going to do that before we had finished it.
I think, so far, it's a good movie. It does really show us how messed up some lives can be, just because of these diamonds. And it's for real. It's not just a good story, made to be a good movie, no it's based on a Real story. Things like this happens all the time, it's terrible! And what are we doing trying to stop it? Not much...
The easiest solution to it would be forcing Van Der Kaap (or how the name was) to stop hiding diamonds, so the price would go down.
However, we haven't finished watching it yet, but I think the end will be good! Hope we are going to discuss this in class too then...
I think that making such a movie, like Blood Diamond will help many people see what it is like in other parts of the world.
Many people have lost their families, their loved ones, their lives for these precious diamonds. But are they that special that they HAVE to kill people for them?
Blood Diamond is a great movie, that shows people how life really is (or was?) in Sierra Leone.

Blood Diamond as a movie that I've watched before. It is full of emotion and it really helps us know exactly what was going on at the time and what people's main goals were. People know Africa is full of diamonds therefor took control of people so they would look for them. Watching this movie sure brings up a lot of emotions. You'd wonder what leads people into kill one another with such ease. They kill as though life can be replaced... That to me is unacceptable. I really enjoy the movie because every time i watch it, it brings up the same emotions: anger, frustration, and sadness. Can't wait to watch the end again!
blood dimonde was a nice movie that shows the harsh past of how the eoropeans just stole the life and the diginty of many people.
I think that making movies that really hve a good plot like blood diamond are very usefull to help people understand what some families are going through in there daily lives. These types of movies (such as blood diamond) are very informing and can tell you the other sides of stories that people have only heard part of. Like when a diamond seller sells diamonds, he oesn't tell the buyer that people died and people had to kill others to get these diamonds using blood, sweat and tears... he tells the buyer that these preciouse diamonds were retrieved from Sierra Lione, which is why peolpe buy these diamonds, but yes making movies like this can tell you and inform you about "the inside story" of what's really going on in the world.
blood diamond is a very sad and violent movie but i also think its very... educaional i guess because it talks about how people use others to get diamonds and how they treated, workers and their family.

I think the movie Blood diamond is a good movie. It showes us the kind of things that were happening to slaves who were forced to find diamonds. I was kind of shocked by how bad the slaves were treated I knew that they were beat but I didn't think they would go as far as killing them.

Well I personally think that the movie is terrible.I mean I know these things happen but to actually see it, its so sad. Brain washing the kids, killing people.The worst part is that without realizing it,were contributing to it.
It hurts to see it happen,but the truth needs to be known.

Blood Diamond is a movie depicting character,emotion,and thoughts.The title of the movie gives already an impression about the movie as soon as you think about it.With all the action in the movie,Blood Diamond leaves u thinkin deeply about the crisis in Sierra Leone.The many families seperated for the simple reason dat many groups are in need of power.Most of these groups have problems that make them react in such away but Blood Diamond intention is to prove habits of such groups.The habits that they just kill for the pleasure and that is the only way they can express themselves.

Blood Diamond is definitely a moving story that depicts the civil war in Sierra Leone. The fuel of the war are the conflict diamonds that are at a high demand in most of the first world countries. This movie certainly triggers the mind and makes me think about the things I use on a daily basis. The Nike company is known for exploiting poor people in Asia, by making them work in factories under horrible conditions for less than minimum wage. I know this, yet it doesn’t stop me from wearing my Nike cleats every Monday and Wednesday. Similar to that example, many people know the possibility that someone could’ve lost an arm for that tiny bit of carbon they believe to be so valuable. I think the purpose of Blood Diamond is to make people more aware of the struggle the Sierra Leonean people went through.
One thing I would like to point out is that we have to be careful in wording are sentences. Comments such as the Europeans did this or “They [Africans] have fun killing people” might come off the wrong way.

So far i am liking the movie "blood diamond". It is really intense, and it tells us a lot about the civil war in Sierra Leone. Yet i think this movie is really sad and depressing. It makes us see how much the people affected suffered from the civil war. I really hope we continue watching it, because it is really a good movie. Like Hampus explained: "It's not just a good story, made to be a good movie, no it's based on a real story. I think that this is kind of stupid because these diamonds are expensive because humans make it expensive. If humans did not make it expensive. It is the impact humans put over something that makes it worthwhile. It is just like gold.
I think that Blood Diamond shows
how much corruption there is in our continents and due to leading nations these wars continue to destroy the small nations here. The Diamonds company exchanged war materials for Diamond and like they say in the movie when people buy those diamonds for such a big price they have no idea how much blood has been poored just for that particular diamond. I am not saying it's only foreigners fault but we have some responsibility to take in this, we cut our own coutry brother's hand just to get what we want, i mean common don't only think about yourself.

seeing is believing. I always hear about crimes going on in the world and sad stories of people dying. when I saw that movie I was shocked. I seriously can't understand why people uses others for money(diamonds). those are little rocks that rich people will afford to wear as a necklace. how ridiculous is that. anyways liked the movie even though we are not finished yet and I can't wait to see the rest!!
