The article was written for people who are considering travelling to Oku, and wondering what it is like and what the costs may be. The purpose is to inform potential tourists. High points are a great culture, and beatiful scenery, but the roads are bad. The cultures differ in religion, and specialities such as sculpting.

!some of the shots of kinshasa are close to my former house :p i was there during the shooting!
anyways, Congo is being dragged down by corruption, political division, a seperated army unable to keep its soldiers from straying and performing atrocities. Since the recording of this report, Nkunda has advanced from the North East. Pakistani UN soldiers have been found guilty of rapes in the country, showing that the UN does not have its army under full control either.
Music is of huge importance to the people of congo, so i chose a musician as an influential person. Werrason grew up in Kinshasa, studied in France, where he started playing the guitar and writing songs. He has toured throughout the Western world, and gives a lot of charity. The Werrason Foundation helps shegues (children of the street) and he even has his own facility which can house 400 shegues, giving them a home, warm meals, and an education to get them off the streets. The UN gave him the title Universal Ambassador of Peace, and he has performed for the Pope John Paul. He dedicates part of his time to all the UNESCO campaigns against AIDS and all types of discriminations.

In the article about the Oku region, i think that that article is intended for tourists who visit Cameroon to read and consider visiting that reigon. The porpose of the article is to inform people that it is worth their time to visit the Oku region. A good thing about this reigon is the scenery is beatiful and it has a rich culture, but getting there and getting around once you are there is a challenge because the roads are bad, especially in the rainy season when they get muddy and slippery. The cultures in this area differ because of the different religions.

The problem in the congo is that rival malitias are fighting for power and the government leaders are getting power unfairly and corrupting the elections. Also warlords are an obstacle to this new democracy. It is divided by to political parties. Part of the problem with the war is that weapons are so cheap, it only costs $10 for an AK-47. The weapons are smuggled across Lake Albert on the border with Uganda. Also the army is corrupted because they dont pay their soldiers so they just go back to local malitias where they actually get paid.
Another problem for Congo is its infastructure. Its the size of Western Europe and has few paved roads. Also electricity and running water is hard to come by, but, as shocking as it may be, Congo has the potentail to be a very rich nation, its estimated diamond and mineral wealth is
$23 TRILLION!!!!!!!!!! But that has its pros and cons. It causes wars because warlords want control of the mines. Also other countries such as Uganda get involved. But the money from the mines doesnt get to the people of the Congo, instead it goes to other countries and coorperations.

The purpose of this article is to inform people about Oku. It has beautiful scenery but very bad roads. The Oku people are mostly nomads and are predominantly Muslim.

Congo is rich with diamonds and gold, but it has lead to civil wars. There has been rivalry to control the mines, and there is corruption within the Congolese government. Because of this civil wars, Congo lacks infrastructure, electricity, and plumbing. Many Congolese men work in mines were they are expected to find gold in order to get paid.

Congo is probably more united than they were then. It has probably received more aid from the United Nations reducing poverty in Congo.

I chose Chantal Biya as an infleuntial person in Central Africa. She is the first lady of Cameroon. I wouldn't say she is the most infleuntial. She was the founder of the Chantal Biya foundation which focuses on building strong relationships between mother and children throughout central Africa. She is also the one of the only first lady in Africa who has helped create awareness about HIV AIDS. Chantal Biya was also made a good will ambassador for UNESCO.

The purpose of this article is to give the tourists information about Oku and the surroundings. The low points of this area are: the bad quality of the roads which lead there. The high points are, as explained vastly, the beautiful nature, views and landscapes surrounding the area. The cultures there don't only differ in religion but also in types of producing food (pastoral farming) and artistic specialities.

FIRST THINGS FIRST:

This text was obviousy directed at either potential tourists and/or researchers on the area, the environment or its people. It was most likely written to convince or to inform its readers about this specific region of Cameroon.
High Points:
-awsome scenery
-adventerous location
-admirable people with their own specialties
-Great diversity in fauna and flora.
Low Points:
-some sights are only reachable by hiking.
Some villages specialize in
-harvesting honey
-sculpturing
-wooden carvings
---------------------------
Congo stuff:

Reporters would probably not risk going into the Congo now concidering how much has changed since 2006. Its a pity that nothing ever works out in these kinds of politics, the earth grants them wealth, and all they do is butcher eachother over it, there is no sense of followship and brotherhood between the rich and the poor of this unstable country, its me, myself and I. Is there no sense of responsibility and devotion among these fiends that call themselves presidents? DO THEY FEEL NOTHING IN THEIR HEARTS WHEN THEY ROB THEIR OWN PEOPLE OF LIFE FOR THEIR OWN WELL BEING?! such perfidy must not go unnoticed. The world should barricade and sanction all trade with the Congo untill the government has grown so weak the people can reform (meanwhile refuge camps should be harnessed around the congo, harboring the poverty and hunger strucken survivors). They may dance and enjoy their jets and villas around the world but soon enough they WILL face either death (altho i dont grant them this) or trial at the ICC... These people would be like hitler if they were given too much power. I have soooooooo incredibly much pity for the citizens of the congo, while i have sooooooo incredibly much hate towards anyone with power there (although i resent myself for it, because id prefer just not to hate anyone)
The UNITED NATIONS IS AWSOME! i admire everyone of you whether its your parents or their friends, u guys save lives and u guys are charity number 1.
Is it because no good man in Africa can become president that only the corrupt ones manage to win? I think that is the problem, the bad people always gain power because there is no way u can win an election in africa through playing fair...
My famous organization is UN. many sub organization under the UN provide shelter, food and protection to all the innocent victims of war. The collobration of nations from around the world, each with their won representative, have made a difference to thousands of victims around the world. Each nation in the UN has to invest a certain amount of money every year towards the abolishing of numerous problems around the world. THESE are the people that are the heroes of the world, not the ones that throw wars but the ones that aid all the people affected by it.

there is so much more to say but ill leave the rest for in class....

I think that this article was written for people who are interested in traveling. It seems to be an excerpt from a travel log that could inform the reader what the region of oku is like from someone who has actually been there. It seems more personal than an actual brochure about oku would have been.
The purpose of this article would then be to inform the reader as to what the region of Oku in Cameroon is like.
Advantages of traveling to this area would include beautiful scenery that is very captivating. Disadvantages include: poor state of the road to Oku. During the dry season the road is very bumpy and dusty and during the wet season it is slippery and muddy.
Regarding culture in the Oku there is a paramount ruler ,or ‘Fon’, who rules over 34 chiefdoms. These chiefdoms all a share common ancestry. The Borroros are culturally different from the people living in the NW provinces and they are mostly farmers as opposed to the nomadic culture that so many NW cultures are into.
Despite the fact that congo is a country rich in minerals this country is poverty stricken.shoot outs have become a part every day lives and their political system is in turmoil. It has suffered numerous civil wars all of which has taken its toll on congo’s infrastructure and financial stability.
i chose a man named Konongo Odumasi, the President and Founder of Positive Role Models Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based at Konongo-Odumasi. Dr. Steve Ogbordjor and his wife organised a New Year party at the Konongo Methodist auditorium, for 400 children drawn from the Asante Akim North Municipality.
Dr. Steve Ogbordjor urged the children to choose positive Role Models, and to aspire to be like those Role Models in the community and the nation.

1)The article is written for people who are interested in the region of Oku
2)To share the author's experience of his/her own travel to Oku, to inform others about the region, and to possibly persuade people to visit the place themselves
3)Some positive aspects are the beautiful sceneries, the wildlife, and the different culture. Some negatives, however, are the poor roads and the difficulty in accessibility.
4)The cultures differ in their activities, religion, and lifestyle

Congo was, at the time of this report, unstable in many ways. Poverty levels are extremely high, infrastructure is inadequate, and military threats are constantly present as well as political instability. Some important issues are the smuggling of weapons into the country, the profits of work being unfairly distributed, and an "untamed" army. I find it interesting how the report says, at the end, that the government should watch and be careful about the warlord Lawrence Ncunda(how do you spell it?) because he has the potential of causing turmoil. However, it seems the government hasn't done a very good job on that because currently, Ncunda is leading a war in Congo. I suppose the situation in Congo has gotten worse, as opposed to what the president claimed would happen during his interview, if Ncunda has begun taking action against the government.

The problem in congo is that people are fighting for power and the government is corrupting his citizens. The country is full of diamonds and gold which make a lot more problems.
Jean-Marie Ahanda became the most influential bikutsi performer in the late 80s, and he revolutionized the genre in 1987 after forming Les Têtes Brulées, whose success changed the Cameroonian music industry. He did much to help popularize Cameroonian popular music across the world.

Well i think that the article is written for people who are looking to travel to that area, specifically Oku N.W Cameroon. The article is also really directed towards adventure seeking tourists. The low points of traveling in this area of Cameroon are, that there are allot of unpaved roads, and in the rainy season it can get quite slippery and wet and muddy, so u must have a capable vehicle, but in their case they had to pay ( a cheap amount) to get a vehicle that could handle that terrain. The high points of traveling this area is that there is allot scenery and the locals are generally friendly and respectful towards foreigners and tourists. The Congo video showed quite allot of facts and problems about the Congo. The Congo Has politicians that are only interested in money and their own personal wealth so they really cant help the country more than they can help themselves. The countries main problem to me is that they have to many renegade warlords that are running around like headless chickens, they don't just cause death they cause political instability and steal money from areas that need it. The poverty is killing the country as well, the people need money to help the country prosper and flourish at a grater rate, but they cant do that if they are resorting to killing for money. The president is not the answer and i do not know why everyone is looking at him as the savior. The things that could have changed are that the president could have changed his tactics, or an important warlord was killed or the UN pulled out.

This article was written for the peole who would like to learn more about Oku before travelling to that destination. The purpose of the article is to let people know about what happens in Oku and stuff. One of the best things about it is that it's culture is very rich. The cultures differ because the religions in the different cultures are also different and the art of the people varies from region to region. The problem in congo is that the governement is corrupting the elections and that the armies are not under control so they are doing anything that pleases them and it ends up very bad for the country. As tara said the thing that could have changed since the begining of the report would be the locations of all these events taking place

This article is for people who wish to explore this region of Cameroon. The articles describes the region and gives an overview of what happens in order to visit this place. some of the high points of this area is the beautiful scenery, the variety of the amical people and their culture. the low points would be the bad roads that causes part of the trip to be weary. the cultures in this area differ due to different religion and different specialities of occupation.

Congo is in what most people would call deep s**t (sorry for the informal term). due to its mineral wealth, the country is teared up by warlords that take over land, exploit the mine workers and benefit greatly by trading with foreigners. the infrastructure of teh country is weak and this is only emphasised by the great size of the country and the population. Since the recording of this video, the warlord Laurent Nkunda has moved his forces more to the west. However Congo has progressed some more, the president is slowly but surely helping the country evolve.

Paul Kagame was one of the prominent figure in ending the genocide in Rwanda. He took power and in later election he was elected by the people. He helped and is still helping Rwanda recover from the atrocities that happened 14 years ago, even though it is still a very poor country, it has one of the fastest rates of development in Africa. however like all leaders he has a bad side. In my opinion he is so conviced that his deeds are perfect he doesnt realise his reign is inclining towards a dictatorship

Journey To Discover the Secrets of Oku was written for any tourists who want to know about Oku and the long trip required to arrive there. The purpose is to inform tourists about what they will see, how expensive things will be, and what their itinerary will be most like when visiting Oku. High points are beautiful mountains and tree, meeting a new people, low prices for about everything there, and an overall interesting life experience that one will always member. Low points are rough roads on the way to Oku and the fact that in Oku, "one is either climbing or descending". The cultures differ in religion and in their traditional arts.

The Congo has many, many problems to deal with. First, the fact that rebels crowd the street firing guns almost every day poses a very big threat to everyday Congolese people living in the capital. These frequent attacks are attributed to the fact AK-47s are easily accessible and sell at just $10 US. The reporter said that some say that someone can start a war for $500 US. So far, at that time 4,000,000 people had died in Congo's conflict. Second, the infrastructure in Congo is crumbling and the government is not powerful enough to support Congo's poor population. In the nation that is the exact size of Western Europe, there are almost no roads, and a usually easy journey can take days. Millions of Congolese live without clean water or electricity, and frequent attacks have crippled much of the country's utilities. Third, the Congolese government has not yet explored its diamond and gold mines. The combined wealth from these mines is $23 trillion US. That's enough to have probably 50 wars or more in the Congo. With all that money, Congo could revitalize its economy, increase its standard of living and stabilize its infrastructure. Instead, the mines are left explored by poor Congolese who work in the mines today, and the actual minerals end up being trafficked to smugglers, foreign governments and corporations. Fourth, some families are so poor that they can't even afford to feed their own children. United Nations come to the rescue though, feeding about 4,000 babies per month. And finally, warlords run rampant throughout the Congo, like Laurent Nkunda, who reigns mostly in the East forests of Congo.

Laurent Nkunda definitely has moved further West in the Congo, and a little while ago, I heard he had actually taken over the Congo and ousted the president. Conditions must have gotten worse for the poor, and probably the death toll has risen sharply.

Mwai Kibaki is the current President of Kenya. His presidential style is very "hands-off" letting his government ministers manage their departments and introduce much needed reforms that help benefit the country. One amazing reform that he has done is abolishing school fees for primary education. This is great because it gives everyone access to an education, no matter how rich or poor they may be. The free education programme saw nearly 1.7 million more pupils enroll in school by the end of 2004. Kibaki also came up with Vision 2030, a plan to raise annual GDP by 10%. The careful management of the economy under Kibaki has seen continued Kenya GDP growth during 4 straight years from a low 0.6% in 2002 to 3% in 2003, 4.9% in 2004, 5.8% in 2005 and 6% in 2006. The steady rise of the GDP is a great boost to the economy, which was weak before Kibaki's first presidency (pre-2003). Thanks to the consistent reforms undertaken by Kibaki's government, infrastructure rebuilding has been going on in Kenya, and all economic sectors have recovered from the previous economic decay.

The article is written for tourists who would like to travel to Oku and don't know how it looks like. It informs them about the area and details about cultures, religion and special characteristics. It also tells about the bad things, such as the roads, who get really slippy and dirty so hat you almost can't drive, during the rain time.
Music is very important to the people in congo. I think that the kind of mjsic the people of a country listen to, tells a lot about the countries character, but maybe that's just my opinion. One of the musicers is Werrason from Kinshasain. He established the Werrason foundation wich helps 'children from the street'. Now he is called the Ambassador of peace. He had moved a lot and is still working very hard for improvemnet.Ad aspect of the country is the abd treating of the people in small villages, that turn after attacs into diamond mines.Congo also lacks infrastructure, electrecity etc. because of the civil wars and corruptions of the government. The country has a good and a bad face. Whereat I think that there are more negative things taht have to be improved.

The problem of Congo is that it could be potentially the richest country in the world and its abundance in mineral resources could reach $23000000000000. However, political instability (caused both by the deviant warlords who don't want to give up their power to a democratic government and the relentless accussations of corruption both presidential candidates have experienced) and the smuggling of armament into Congo, make this properous future seem untrue.

Some new fights and coups d'etat may have taken place since the report was made and also the country could've also experienced some popular revolts.

Samuel Étoo, one of the best football players in the history of FC Barcelona, is from Cameroon. As mentioned, he is a football player who has been chosen the "African Football Player of the Year" in the years 2003, 2004 and 2005. He has been also one of the most scoring football players in the history of the Spanish League, scoring over 150 goals in 262matches.

1. The article is directed for people considering traveling to the region
2. To tell people that may come to the area what the place is like and accounts of someone's experience
3. Good> Beautiful scenery and views. Bad> Poor Roads and accessibility
4. The cultures differ in religion, and activities.

Congo is rich in diamonds and gold but conflict over the resources and rights to the outcome of the money has left the country in conflict and war. Corruption in the government and lack of progress has left the country in a poor situation where fighting seems to be interminable and infrastructure is inexistent.

I think that humanitarian aid should focus on removal of sources of weapons entering the congo, even though it might be too late. Then there has to be some sort of communist action where wealth is redistributed, cause its ridiculous how rich rich people are in corrupt countries

Influential Person> Denis Sassou Nguesso has been the President of the Republic of the Congo since 1997; he was previously President from 1979 to 1992. He lost executive powers as a result of the 1991 National Conference and was subsequently defeated in the 1992 presidential election, placing third. Five years later, he returned to power when his forces prevailed in the 1997 civil war. Following a transitional period, he won the 2002 presidential election, which lacked meaningful opposition participation.
