Earthquakes and milkshakes...

What's up gang,

in class we discussed seasons, weather, and extreme weather. Here are some questions for you to answer:

1)What is the difference between weather and climate?

2)Differentiate between the 3 types of rain.

3)Give details about 2 types of extreme weather.

For tomorrow please read chapter 3, section 2. Also, check out these videos about el nino:

Mr Philen the first video is dumb... Its cool how el nino happens like every two years or even up to every ten years. The winds that pushed the water twoards indonesia and etc become weaker so the water go towards the central and eastern Pacific. When El Nino takes place takes place the area in which it takes place causes lots of raining and floods. While where it normaly takes place there are droughts. El Nino means christ child.People have been studying El Nino for more than a century.

Btw the first video was dumb lol

mrphilens the vidoes won't load on my computer i only saw a minute of one of the videos and i understood that El nino was the movement of hot water to the southern and central pacific which causes some kind of water rising.

haha yeahh mr. philen... i agree with davide lol, the first video is pretty dumb =P

Its pretty interesting how an El Nino can affect the temperature where it doesnt reach. it can change the weather patterns in other areas. (I liked how he used the example of the pebbles; its a good comparison)
the second video gives you a better understanding of what an El Nino is, although it leaves you wondering..how it is created? Is an El Nino like a hurricane? or what?

hahah what's the point of the 1st video?! :D funny though!

On the 2nd video:
El Niño is the appearance for time to time of warm water. One thing that i found very interesting is that "El Niño", happends during winters, when there's a lot of rain and when the winds are weaker (christmas) and it means "The Christ Child", even though El Niño is a dangerous fenomeno and destroys a lot of things.

"First of all, El Nino is the appearance from time to time of warm water in the central and pacific ocean." It is interesting how a water pool forms slowly in the west pacific and over some years; as it reaches continent; it is capable of doing so much damages. Houses flooded, drown people, and the floods can sometimes even engulf cars. I found it also interesting the reason they named El Nino, El Nino. Since it was during christmas they named it El Nino which means the "Christ's child.
I liked the video, because it was easy to understand and they gave a lot of helpful information.

El nino

hahahahah the first vid is funny but has absolutely no point it was cool anyway.
El nino causes a lot of damage and is a horrible thing yet it is a recurring thing and should be very easy to prevent not on a major scale but on a minor scale such as things people can do to protect there homes and stuff little things

i found it interesting how the storm only happens once in a while. it was also very interesting how el nino can change the weather of most of the world but it mostly hits around peru.
el nino is apperesntly mostly common in the winter when the winds arent strong enough to maintain the warm currents in their usual place. because of this the currents move causing them to crash on land.

lol what was the point of that???
got the mind off work for a while though so thx :)

I think a fact worth discussing is that el nino causes weather problems. In developing countries that hugely depend on agriculture el nino can be a real problem as it causes floods and other natural disasters. Another interesting fact is that they can't exactly know when el nino will occur. Karim

Yoooo PDP wass gud? Haha the first video was pretty weird and funny at the same time. It gave me a good laugh. In the second video, it explained exactly what El Nino is. El Nino is the appearance from time to time of warm water in the central and eastern Pacific Ocean. It was interesting to hear that El Nino affects a lot of areas around it.

Nice to the guy in video 1.

In video 2

This video describes what El Nino is. El nino is the appearance form time to time of warm water in the central and Eastern Pacific ocean. This happens because theres a pool of water to the west, which gathers water over a long period of time, because of the wind. However, when the widn weakens , it coems back , and floods the area, whic causes catastrophic effects. El Nino means Christ's child
